About this course
This comprehensive course is designed for individuals appointed as Chief or Deputy Chief Wardens. It builds upon foundational evacuation knowledge to provide the leadership skills necessary to command an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO). Participants will learn to coordinate a facility-wide response, manage the Emergency Control Point, and safely use fire-fighting equipment to suppress small fires. This training ensures the Chief Warden can make critical decisions under pressure until emergency services arrive.
Course content
- Leading the ECO and delegating tasks to floor wardens and area wardens
- Managing the Emergency Control Point (ECP) and communication consoles
- Assessing emergency situations and determining the appropriate response (Evacuation vs. Lockdown)
- Effectively briefing Fire and Rescue services upon their arrival
- Practical training in the safe use of fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and hose reels
- Overseeing the reset of alarms and conducting post-emergency debriefs
- Understanding AS 3745-2010 and workplace health and safety requirements
Who can do this course?
This course is essential for Chief Wardens, Deputy Chief Wardens and Safety Managers responsible for overseeing emergency procedures in multi-level buildings, industrial sites, or large retail complexes. Minimum age 16 years.
