About these courses
This comprehensive training covers operating key machinery in the civil construction and earthmoving industries. Participants will gain the knowledge and practical skills required to safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment in line with industry standards and workplace health and safety regulations. Please note: Each Unit of Competency requires its own course booking and payment.
Course content
- Pre-start inspections and equipment checks
- Safe operating techniques for each machine type
- Manoeuvring, loading, hauling and dumping procedures
- Interpreting and following work instructions
- Identifying and controlling workplace hazards
- Communication protocols on site
- Load placement, stability and ground condition awareness
- Shutdown and securing of equipment
- Compliance with workplace health and safety regulations
Who can do this course?
Participants must be at least 16 years of age to attend this course.

Successful completion results in a Statement of Attainment and Operator Card for each unit completed. A Verification of Competency (VOC) is also issued at no additional cost
