About this course
This course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate a gantry or overhead crane in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant legislation. Participants will learn how to plan lifting operations, conduct pre-operational inspections, safely move and position loads, and identify hazards associated with crane operations. This nationally recognised unit is suitable for workers involved in manufacturing, warehousing, construction, logistics and industrial environments where gantry or overhead cranes are used.
Course content
- WHS legislation, roles and responsibilities relating to crane operations
- Planning and preparing for lifting tasks
- Identifying hazards and implementing risk control measures
- Conducting pre-operational inspections and equipment checks
- Operating gantry or overhead cranes safely and efficiently
- Moving, lifting and positioning loads using appropriate lifting techniques
- Communication methods and use of standard crane signals
- Shutting down and securing crane equipment after operations
- Applying safe work methods in line with workplace procedures and industry standards
Who can do this course?
This course is suitable for workers required to operate gantry or overhead cranes in industrial, construction, warehouse and manufacturing environments. Minimum age 16 years.
